# Community Wardens
The Student Warden project aims to increase communications and understanding between students and the local residents. We hope that through positive, inclusive action we can help improve relationships and unite the communities around Coventry. The Student Wardens promote messages about safety, student’s rights and responsibilities when living in the community, they get involved in community projects and attend neighbourhood meetings. The wardens work with both students and residents to raise awareness about issues such as anti-social behaviour, rubbish and recycling and community cohesion.
The Community Wardens can be contacted by calling 024 7765 5224.
# Sports and Societies
All Sport clubs and societies offer students the opportunity to continue their hobbies, learn new skills and meet like-minded people. If you don’t see an activity you like, then you can create it yourself. Just come and see a staff member who will be able to guide you through the process.
The Sport and Societies offices are open Monday-Friday 10:00-16:00. The Sport team can be contacted either by telephoning 024 7765 1430 or by emailing the Sports team. For advice regarding Societies call 024 7765 5160 or emailing the Societies team.
The Volunteering Department is here to engage and support Coventry University students to participate in volunteering activities within CUSU and the local community. Students can volunteer from as little as an hour, a couple of hours in a group on a make a difference day activity (MADD) or commit to regular long-term volunteering with one of our community partners. There is a student volunteer team (SVT) who help to promote volunteering across campus and various student led projects, where students can lead another group of students on activities on and off campus.
CUSU has a department dedicated to helping students recognise the skills they get from their involvement in extra-curricular activities. The Employability department runs placements in the SU and Add+vantage modules in everything from volunteering in schools to sign language to running sports clubs and societies. The department also runs a leadership award and training programme.
# Student Voice
The Rep System is in place to give students a voice. The Student Rep System covers any feedback you may have about your course or University services. Any questions or concerns about a course, or any other aspect of student life you can contact your Reps for support and guidance. Or if you would like to become a Rep.
# Student Leaders
CUSU Student Leaders are made up of Sabbatical Officers, Faculty Reps, and Student Councillors, with each team having a different role to play. Sabbatical Officers and Faculty Chairs make up the Executive Committee, a body that is given authority from Student Council to manage the day to day affairs of CUSU, represent the wider student body, and ensure that policies are adhered to. It is Student Council’s job to make sure that the Executive Committee are doing their job right, whilst representing specific student interests.
The Student Leaders office is open Monday-Friday 10:00-16:00.
