The Disabilities Team are part of Health and Wellbeing and are located on the 2nd floor of TheHub (accessible via the Jordan Well entrance). We share the Health and Wellbeing space with welfare, counselling, mental health support and the Coventry University Medical Centre.
# Who we support
The Team support students with disabilities, specific learning difficulties and long-term health conditions. We provide individualised advice and guidance from the application stage to graduation, ensuring students needs are met and any relevant external funding for support is in place.
# How we can assist you
The Disabilities Team can authorise individual exam arrangements. Students fill out an individual exam arrangement request form. Once received, staff will then verify the request and Registry arrange the individual adjustments. All new students have to fill this form out around four weeks after they have enrolled and this then lasts throughout the duration of your time with us.
Other services include specialist tuition for students with dyslexia and other SpLDs, arrangement for note takers and study support workers, giving funding advice (Disabled Students’ Allowance, charities etc.), facilitates student-led disability support groups and assist in the organising of week-long equipment loan (e.g. laptops, Dictaphones, back rests).
# Equipment loan process
If you require use of equipment to help you with your studies, you can loan equipment using our online booking system. Simply sign in, click 'Book by Category' and select Equipment to book the item you wish to loan. For more details on the booking equipment check out our Equipment Loan Guide.pdf. Equipment loans are initially for 2 weeks but can be renewed for a further 2 weeks.
# Booking an appointment
Online bookable appointments are available with a member of the Disability team, Monday through to Friday. To book an appointment, go to the online booking system. Sign in using your university computer login and password and click on the 'Create booking' tab to make the appointment.
If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason, please ensure you delete your booking from your account page of the online booking system. Please be aware when you miss an appointment but do not delete your booking, other students are prevented from accessing support.
