# Get University email on your Android phone or tablet

Get quick access to your university emails (opens new window) on your phone, wherever you are on campus.

It’s important that you check your university emails regularly so that you receive information, from your academic tutors and admin staff, about your course and other issues that will affect you.

Tip:

University staff are only permitted to send and receive emails to and from your university email account. For security and data protection reasons, please do not use your personal email account when emailing the University. If you currently auto forward your university emails to a personal account, please be aware that this feature will be automatically disabled from 19 April 2021 (opens new window).

# Add your university email account to Gmail

If you want to access your university emails using Gmail, then you can add your university account to Gmail by following the steps below.

# 1. Open the Gmail app

On your Android phone or tablet, open the Gmail app. To ensure you are using the latest version of Gmail, you need to:

  • Open the Google Play Store app on your phone or tablet.
  • Type "Gmail" into the search bar and select Update.

# 2. Go to Settings

Tap the menu icon in the upper left corner and select Settings

# 3. Add account

Tap Add account and then Exchange and Microsoft 365.

# 4. Select the email provider

Choose the type of account you want to add (the email provider for your university account is Exchange and Office 365).

Important: Do NOT choose "Outlook, Hotmail, and Live" unless you want to sync email only and not calendar/contacts.

# 5. Enter your university email address and password

You will need to enter your university email address and tap Next. After this, enter your password and tap Next.

# 6. Set up your account

Follow the steps to finish setting up your account. you may see a Redirect request screen. Tap OK. On the Incoming server settings screen, change your server to outlook.office365.com.
