# Book an appointment with a mental health service

We are here to help you with emotional, psychological and longer-term mental health problems. Our trained counsellors, coaches and mental health advisors will help you to manage your difficulties so that you can continue with your studies and achieve your goals at university.

Tip:

We are accredited by the British Association of Psychotherapy and Counselling BACP (opens new window).

# Book an appointment

If you feel mentally unwell (you may be anxious, depressed, struggling with everyday life, constantly tearful and unable to cope), we can help. You can book a 50 minute session with either a Counsellor or a Mental Health Advisor, both for short-term counselling and ongoing mental health support.

To book an appointment, contact counsell.ss@coventry.ac.uk. Make sure you send the email from your University account and include your name, student ID number and an outline of the issues you are having.

You can also contact us on behalf of someone else. If you are worried about a friend, and think that they are struggling, please contact us for advice if they are reluctant to get help themselves.

Tip:

You can get help online whilst you are waiting for an appointment. Go to Togetherall (opens new window) and use your university email account to sign up. You can also log into the Student Portal to get free self-help leaflets (opens new window).

# Get help in an emergency

Please note: the Counselling and Mental Health service is not an emergency service. If you are in an emergency crisis - call 999. If you are thinking of seriously harming yourself, or are having suicidal thoughts, please speak to your doctor immediately or ring the NHS helpline 111 or call the Samaritans 116 123 or go to the Coventry Walk-In Centre 0300 200 0060. You can also find a summary of urgent support services (opens new window) on the Student Portal.
